About this Journey

The 6 Days Western Tanzania Adventure is an extraordinary journey into some of the most remote and unspoiled wilderness areas in East Africa. Designed for travelers seeking rare wildlife encounters, natural beauty, and true off-the-beaten-path exploration, this itinerary combines the legendary chimpanzee habitats of Gombe Stream National Park and Mahale Mountains National Park, set along the breathtaking shores of Lake Tanganyika.

This immersive safari begins with a scenic flight to Kigoma, followed by boat journeys across one of the world’s oldest and deepest freshwater lakes. In Gombe, you will explore dense forested valleys made famous by Dr. Jane Goodall’s pioneering chimpanzee research, enjoying guided treks that offer close encounters with wild chimpanzees and other primates. The adventure then continues south to the dramatic Mahale Mountains, where lush rainforests rise directly from the lake, creating one of Africa’s most spectacular landscapes.

Throughout the journey, guests will enjoy expertly guided chimpanzee trekking, forest walks, waterfall visits, and relaxing moments along the crystal-clear waters of Lake Tanganyika
